Long Island

Supposing I do get some kind of offer, the real question is whether or not I want to have names like "Ronkonkoma",
"Patchogue" and "Hauppauge" added to my vocabulary. (Too late I guess...)
I knew I was getting some real local flavour when I heard a bluegrass band play the song "My neighbor from East Patchogue".

Ronkonkoma sounds like a goose with canker sore, I always thought. People laughed at me on the LIRR once when I said Patchogue with a long o. And then I knew how my friend Daria had felt when I corrected her for saying Armitage with an azh instead of an idj: glad that she wasn't staying here with these crazy people much longer.

Congratulations on almost having a job! Let me know if you want the phone number of the crazy landlady in Shirley with the thirteen collies in her garage. :oP
